I want to take a moment and review some of the changes we have made here at HONEYVILLE FEED MILL, a producer of NON GMO FEED. It was a good year for change in 2015. In an effort to improve efficiency to better serve our customers we implemented some new processes and made some equipment improvements. The world of NON GMO FEED is growing rapidly across the US. That being said we have had to step up our game. One of our biggest changes is the growth of our dealerships. We have added a couple new ones and work to give more support to existing ones. I want to list these for everyone to see so the awareness is out there visible. …………
MIDWEST FARM AND PET in BREMEN INDIANA, YORK FARMS in SPENCERVILLE, DREAMIN ACRES in NAPPANEE IN, JACK’S FEED SHACK in BRISTOL INDIANA, CHRISTY GRABER in LAGRANGE INDIANA, SPRING CREEK GENERAL STORE in MENDON, MICH., AMZIE SCHWARTZ in BERNE INDIANA. CENTER AG in TOPEKA INDIANA, JAMES TROYER in HUNTSVILLE OHIO, All of these folks are ready to serve you. They all carry our NON GMO FEED and can custom order to your specifications.
One of the biggest things we have done over the last year was to switch to 100% NON GMO for our floor stock. We produce it daily. Along with this was the introduction of our NON GMO TESTER. With this piece of equipment we can test all of our grains to insure they are true NON GMO, This helps us stand out from others. This also gives us the confidence that we are providing TRUE NON GMO FEED. We are currently working toward being NON GMO VERIFIED to broaden our customer base….
Some of the others things we have done is to outfit every piece of equipment with electronic scales to insure the proper amounts of vitamins and minerals are in the feed. Our large scales and mixers are equipped w/ these also to verify the totals add up. Each batch is weighed and recorded on a daily log sheet to allow us to track back if necessary.
We also have improved our production logs to include all batches whether bag or bulk and also showing any flushes done to avoid cross mix of feed. Each load is recorded and filed for future reference.
In regards to equipment we have improved our shelling process to reduce lost time, waste and improved efficiency so we can pass that on to our customers. This included direct filling of the cob wagon and moving the shelled corn tube to an improved location, Along with this we added bins in which we can shell directly in to to avoid loss time of shifting wagons, trucks etc.
We have also located tanks in our basement to store our CLE oil that is used in the feed. By doing this we now can simply flip a switch until we have the desired amount oil. This is compared our old way of bucketing it in. Much less time and more accurate.
For our Molasses we have put a new meter that is extremely accurate and allows us to be much more consistent in our mixes. Each batch can be recorded as made.
We have improved our micro ingredient area with new totes for each ingredient and have electronic scales located directly by them for accuracy.
We have a new person controlling our warehouse to insure all products are stored neatly and safely from the environments. This reduces waste, insures each product is marked clearly, separates product by vendor etc.. Improves our inventory to allow us to provide our customers w/ product and much more.
The list of changes continues to grow along with the demand for NON GMO FEED.
IN RECAP….MANY CHANGES, IMPROVEMENTS, and STRONGER CUSTOMER BASE…IT WAS A GREAT YEAR in 2015 and we look forward to becoming even better in 2016…
